  Hi I would like to remove date from my posts.

  This removes the date and widens the content to recover that space.

  If you want only this Welcome text on your homepage, then you’re doing it wrong: instead of removing dates, bylines etc, you simply publish the text as a page instead of a post, and you set the blog front to display that page (in Settings > Reading).
