Remove the follow button
-
I really dislike the follow button appearing on my pages, and it looks awful on mobile.
I’ve read that it’s possible to hide it with CSS but that requires the Premium (or higher) plan. I’m on the Personal plan. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/remove-the-follow-button?replies=3
Please allow the follow button to be disabled via a setting for Personal plans. It’s ridiculous that you’re expecting users to pay more to disable this “feature”.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
As you upgrade you get more features than just that.
I think you’re referring to the bar in the right lower corner. This is default for all sites with WordPress.com unless you have a WordPress.com Premium plan to disable with CSS, and the Business Plan — which if you enable a plugin — it disables automatically.
You can learn more about the Business Plan here.
You can also discover plans here.
Thanks!

Thanks for responding but I’m not really a fan of being forced to spend more money to remove crappy features.
I’ll be looking for alternative hosts.

Hi there!
really a fan of being forced to spend more money
— You aren’t being forced to do anything. It’s your opinion and options to upgrade to get more features for your site. You aren’t required to upgrade, but some features are in the upgrading because of what the features can do.
remove crappy features
— These features may be “crappy” in your opinion — but we want users to get the best features and choosing a plan will enable you to remove some features that you may not need to give you more features.
If you have any more questions on this topic, please let me know.
Thanks!

Also, I may not be following with what you mean by “Remove Follow Button”. Can you please send me a screenshot link to what you mean
Thanks!

Hi there,
Please see Find a New Host https://move.wordpress.com/find-a-new-host/ in the move to self hosted WordPress instructions at https://move.wordpress.com/WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support. The follow button looks like this https://imgur.com/4aotdjo It’s apparently also known as the “action bar” https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/08/26/new-action-bar/

You’re right, it is my opinion, and my opinion is that this “feature” only exists to annoy users enough to force them to upgrade their plan. It used to be an option to disable this, but now you can only disable it via CSS. To be clear, I am not requesting any new features – I just don’t want this one activated on my pages. WordPress is overlaying their content over top of mine, and asking me to pay more to remove it.
