    how do i remove the icon with the sunglasses please?

    Hi there,
    This icon is default for the theme Independent Publisher 2 and you will have to use css to remove the icon with the sunglasses.

    If you have upgraded plans you can use below css to remove the logo.
    To add below css go to your_site->Settings->Appearance->Customize
    Select Additional Css from next screen and paste below css code. 

    .site-logo-link {
    display: none;
}

    Hi there,

    You do not need CSS to remove this.

    Go to Appearance ->Customize ->Theme Options.

    If you want your own profile picture to display there, change the email address there to your WordPress.com/Gravatar email address. Or if you don’t want anything to appear, just delete that email address completely. Then click Save at the top of the Customizer.

    This is also explained in the theme’s support page at https://wordpress.com/theme/independent-publisher-2/, under the heading, “Gravatar Profile Image”
