  When you use the Gallery format for such posts, this short excerpt will appear on your site’s front page. If you don’t want it, then don’t use the Gallery format. Use
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-formats/

  Other possibilities for front page display are using the “More” tag or a post excerpt.
