Remove Users and Administrators
-
How can you remove the original administrator who no longer works for the company?

You can remove users following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/#removing-users

Hi, I found how to remove users however the user is the administrator and owner so I need to know how I can remove that individual since it would not allow me when I tried.
Thank you! -
If they’re the owner, they will need to transfer the site to someone else before they can be removed: https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

Yes, that is what I figured, however, this was an employee who no longer works for our company so how do we, as the company, gain this access if we can’t reach this individual?

Hi there,
Because sites on WordPress.com are owned by the individual that sets it up (and not owned by the organization) you would need to have them transfer ownership to you.
You are sure you have no way to contact them? I see recent activity on that account, so it seems they still have access to it and have logged on to the site recently.
If you have no way to contact them the other option is to start a new site (under your account) and export/import data from mcswa.wordpress.com to the new site you set up.

This is disappointing to learn as well as not having a better way to communicate with Word Press without paying for a site.
Clearly, if we were able to get ahold of the old employee we would have already handled this but it’s not likely after 5+ years that we will reach him.
And, the activity you are seeing is not from him – it is from our office since we have been on here trying to update the site.
However, as I expected since beginning this conversation with the other staff member, it is clear that we have no options to take control over our website if we don’t hear from the administrator.
At least I now understand our lack of options.
Thank you at least for your time.
