Remove white space between header and text

    I am trying to remove the white space between “welcome to pleonasm” and the next of my “about me” menu page.

    I have tried:

    body.home #content {
    margin-top: -5px;

    That lets me adjust the space between my menu hyperlinks and the text block, but I cant seem to find a way to remove the white space in the actual text block it self.

    Best,

    Chris

  • Hello Chris,

    Your website is private, but you may want to try padding instead of margin.

    padding-top:

    Regards,
    Rose

    I removed my privacy setting there so you can have a look!

    Good idea with the padding, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I’m wondering if it could be a theme issue. Any other ideas?

    Chris

  • Rose was on the right track with padding. :) Give this a try:

    .single .post-content {
      padding-top: 10px;
    }

    Modify the pixel value as you like to add more or less space.

  • If you prefer to target just the homepage, this should do it:

    .home .post-content {
      padding-top: 10px;
    }

    Hello,

    I think my mistake was that I had deleted my home page, and had created a new page called “about me” which I pinned as my static home page. This worked to fix my issue with the “home” header being substituted for “welcome to pleonasm” but inhibited my ability to tweak the home with CSS coding adjustments.

    I decided to wipe my database and start fresh now that I have a little experience with the wordpress software. I have never taken any comp sci, so this has been a valuable learning experience for me haha. The struggles of a English student trying to build his first website lol.

    Anyway, to make a long story short, when I wiped it and started fresh with a new home page, this coding worked well!

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Ok so I am sorry about all of my confusion here, I am really inexperienced with this stuff.

    But just to follow up on my last reply I thought I had successfully deleted my old pages and created my new home page in the menus section of the customize screen, but when I got to the static front page section of the customize screen, all of my old content is still there, and I don’t know how to delete it.

    Is it possible to have that deleted so that I can start fresh?

    Best,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris, since you only have two posts, I’d suggest you delete them manually in your dashboard. I’d suggest you keep your current front page and blog page, and replace the front page with whatever content you’d like to appear there. Or if you prefer to delete them and start completely from scratch, you can do that too.
