Removed custom domain from Tumblr, but still can’t see the import button

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I’m attempting to import my blog posts from Tumblr into WordPress. I deactivated my custom domain, but do not see the import button displaying yet. I attempted to disconnect from Tumblr and reconnect, and still it did nothing. What can I do to resolve this? I’m not quite understanding how to “clear the account information from the importer to import.”

    Greetings,

When transitioning your blog posts from Tumblr to WordPress, encountering import issues can be frustrating. To address this, follow these steps:

Deactivate Custom Domain: You’ve already taken the correct step by deactivating your custom domain on Tumblr.

Clear Account Information: To “clear the account information from the importer,” navigate to your WordPress dashboard. Go to “Tools” > “Import” and select “Tumblr.” If you see any existing connection or account information, remove it by disconnecting from Tumblr.

Reconnect and Retry: After clearing the account information, reconnect to your Tumblr account. Then, try to initiate the import process again.

Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to WordPress or Tumblr support for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance and troubleshooting steps to ensure a successful import.

Ensuring a smooth transition of your blog posts is essential, and these steps should help you overcome any import obstacles.

I’ve already tried doing so with the steps you outlined for clearing the account information. It didn’t do anything. I will be needing Support’s help, as the issue continues to persist.

Additionally, I’ve cleared out the WordPress app from my Tumblr account as well, and it still has not resolved my importing capabilities.

Bumping this to ensure WordPress sees it and provides support.

Additionally, I would like to purchase a premium user plan on WordPress, but I’m not going to be doing so until I have verification that all my old posts from Tumblr have been successfully migrated. The sooner I get help on this issue, the sooner I can work on that and launching my site.

  • @qasimbashir6242 Please add a “modlook” tag for any troubleshooting needs. This will help users get their issues resolved much faster. We appreciate your time and help!

  • Good Morning @rcmndedlisten —

I was going to reset the importer tool so we could give this another try. Sometimes there will be glitches in network connections, or other problems, that will cause it to stall out. In those scenarios, this is usually resolved once we reset the importer tool.

Looking closer though I can see the account and site have been deleted so I’m not able to fix that tool. If you’d like more help please write back to us here and we will try to get things restored and sorted out. Cheers!
