Remove/Edit Comment
-
While logged in to wordpress, I made a comment on another wordpress blog. I want to remove/edit that comment. How do I do so?
Thanks,
Porcupyn -
Unfortunately, that is not possible. You will need to contact the blog owner…maybe leave another comment asking your original comment to be removed?

Is it possible to remove any of the posts in “My Comments” from the new complete listing WP is giving us? I’ve got some long nasty fights between OTHER people that have nothing to do with ME, and I’d rather not have to see them all the time.

you could send a suggestion to staff about being able to opt out of comment threads you no longer wish to see. I know it’s been suggested before, but more voices will only help :) Use the “Support” link in the upper right corner of the dashboard.

I need this functionality really desparate.
My comments are to be “edited” only by me. Not by the blog owner. Here, in this wordpress, The blog owner edits “My Comments”. But, I am not given any option.
I have some scoundrel blog-owners on whom I have given some comments inadvertently.
Now, these blog owners have completely changed my post (by including lot of praises and vulgar messages against my original message of criticism of their blog).
In this wordpress model, I am helpless and can’t delete or edit my own comment.
This, unfortunately, sucks.
Please advice

when you leave a comment in another blog, your comment belongs to the blog owner. s/he has the right to edit or delete your comment. if your comment is being edited in a way that you’re shown in a negative light, there’s nothing you can do to the blog owner. however, you can post in your own blog explaining what the blogger has done and send a trackback to that post so other readers can refer to your post and your explanation.

livejournal.com, blogger.com etc.
sorry, I guess no other choice will be available any time soon.

If someone changes your comment to something you consider libelous or otherwise falsely and negatively reflecting on your character, you actually have the legal right to sue for damages. Perhaps all you need to do is make them aware of this. Logs will show your original comment vs what it was edited to and by whom.

just wonder what can show logs of the public web-service — an IP address originated from anonymous proxy-chain in China?
do you also believe WP is a kind of a Version System that stores diffs to all the comments in its DB?
and who’s going to be a libelee in this imaginary court — that anonymous china IP said above? :-)
isn’t it much easy to change a host to such that allows a blogger to remove his own comments or at least prevents their comments from getting edited by someone else w/o original author permission?
