Removing a Document

I had uploaded a document on my site by accident that is prohibited from being posted due to copyright – i didn’t mean to have it on there in the first place. I have taken it down but the people who contacted me are still saying they can see it. How do I take this down permanently?

Hi there. Click on Media in the dashboard and make sure that you’ve also deleted it from the media library. If it still appears at the direct like after you do that, you’re probably seeing a cached copy on Google’s (or whichever search engine you’re using) servers. WordPress.com can’t do anything about cached pages at search engines – you’ll have to contact each search engine directly to have it removed from their respective caches.

If you provide the direct link to the document staff can make sure for you that it’s removed from the WordPress.com servers. Just let us know.

I did as you suggested and still saw it, so I chose to delete it permanently. The link is as follows:

If I click that link I get a 404 error, which means it’s no longer on the server. Please try clearing your browser cache and check again. Just to make sure.

For some reason it is still showing up for me… I will see how it comes up for the people who have checked on it. Thank you for your help

Hi there,
I was still able to see the pdf as well. But, I deleted the file on our end, so you should no longer be able to see it.
Clear your browser’s cache and let me know if you still see it.
