Removing a publisher's page.
-
As stated, wish to remove current publisher and their promoted products from my site. They no longer represent me. Please advise.
-
This is an empty old wordpress.COm site https://shaunshelf.wordpress.com/
What is the exact URL starting with http:// of the site you refer to?
-
Hey! Caught me on the hop there! Have some stuff to do first though, will get back to you later, if that’s OK. Am a complete numpty when it comes to navigating round website, so please bear with me – or not!
-
Hi, I’m back!
http://wordpress.com/post/shaun-ivory.comWill that help? Please advise.
Back tomorrow. Nighty-night!

Hi there,
I’m not entirely sure what it is you want us to do. As you are an admin on that site, you have complete ability to add, remove or edit any content on that site. If you’re not sure how to remove it, let us know exactly what it is you want to remove, and we can provide you with the instructions on how to do that, but we cannot remove any content from the site for you.
-
If you did not originally set up your site and don’t know how things work, I suggest you take a little time to work through the tutorials. Once you’ve done that you should be able to achieve most of what you want to do without having to wait on replies in the forums.

OK, that seems sensible. Basically, the publisher in question produced my first book but we have parted amicably now and I have other books out independently. So all their stuff is still being promoted on my page and I would naturally prefer not to be their conduit of free advertising. I am not that amicable!
Thank you. -
I completely understand :)
As I said above, please let me know if you have any difficulty removing it, and I can walk you through the steps.
-
Thanks, Kokkieh, will bear that in mind. I am 81 and while I can write multi-starred novels and broadcast on radio I find it a struggle to deal with this stuff(horses for courses!) but I will take a crack at the tutorials – if I can find them! See what I mean?
-
Dear Kokkieh,
I have dipped into some of the tutorials offered until I found the genuine WordPress!
Came out, into My Sites and then Dashboard. Down L/H side and below Activity and Your Stuff there are two updates(mine) and then almost a dozen ‘You Commented on’… which I most certainly did not do. I suspect they may be attributed to my web manager, whom I paid to set site up and is still cited as such at the bottom of main page.
So obviously my first question is: What the blankety-blank are they doing there? It is surely confusing enough already, pushing my little fragile craft out into what is potentially stormy and murky waters, without the siren calls of strange titles distracting me.
Why there and how to eliminate? Please advise. -
Hi, Shaun
There are two users on that site, and in fact the other account appears to be the owner of the site.
Just to clarify that: we see the owner as the person who created the site, even if that person isn’t the primary user. In this case, it’s most likely then the person at your publisher who had helped you to set up the site.
The only way to remove that person as a user is if they transfer ownership of the site to your account instead. We cannot under any circumstances transfer ownership of the blog to you. The current owner must do it themselves, so you will need to contact them and request that they do so.
As you are an administrator on the site you should be able to see the username and email address of the other user at this link:
https://shaunivory.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.phpI realise this must be frustrating, but in this situation contacting them is the only option.

Oh, I’ve done that – twice! That’s what has me puzzled. Up till now I have always had a perfectly normal association with her. But she simply has not answered my last two emails on this subject. That’s why I have resorted to this action. That does leave me in a quandary! I paid a sum of money to have it set up – for me. Looks like it’s a bit like buying your house on a lease, no matter how long. You own it but at the same time not completely. Anyway, you have been a great help and many thanks. Not a great start to my new year, I hope yours is better!

Thanks for understanding the situation. I hope you manage to get it sorted out and that your new year will only improve from here.

For Kokkieh! Last words on this. Phew! The lady was simply ill. Well, obviously not simply but it was the last thing I would have considered, her being young and all. Don’t imagine young people being ill. So… she is back up to speed and very apologetic for the lapse in replying, etc. We are back on track and I seem to be in control of that particular part of my destiny. Illusion! Anyway, in case you were still wondering. Thanks for your patience and help. I just hope you come across one of my books and remember me. I certainly won’t forget your name – intriguing.
-
Thank you for letting me know. I’m glad to hear you managed to resolve this.
Have a great 2016 :)
