Removing a Sidebar

How do I remove a sidebar? I’ve cleared the sidebar of widgets, but when I go to my blog site, the sidebar is populated with three widgets, as though they were there by default. Is there anyway I can remove the sidebar altogether?

You can place an empty text widget in the sidebar, click to open, enter nothing, click “save” and click “close”. That will eliminate all sidebar display. It does not mean that you can blog in the sidebar space though. That space is only for widgets.

    Widget Areas

    Oxygen offers seven widget areas:

The Primary Sidebar displays categories and archives by default, and the Secondary Sidebar displays search, links, and meta by default if no widgets are configured in Appearance → Widgets.

The four Footer Columns and After Post widget areas are optional and will display only when configured. The After Post widget is handy for including a brief author description or perhaps a list of tags or categories to help readers more effectively discover your awesome content.
