Removing a site

  Hello,

  The site was created as a draft in March/April 2011 but never used. I did not remove it then and now it is popping up in search terms for the business and it has very old info including placeholders in Latin text. (lorem ipsum)

  I cannot remember what the username / password or the email address connected to it is. It was so long ago. Help! – Jo

  I would be fine setting the account to private if I cannot remove the site, but then I would need to know where to request that. Thank you for any help. – Jo

  Hi there,

  What is the URL of the site you’re speaking of?

  Only someone that is logged in as an admin of a WordPress.com site has the ability to delete it or take it offline. We do not make changes like that at the site owner’s request, and we definitely cannot do it at the request of an account that isn’t even a user on the site at all.

  If the site is hosted with us, you can try to regain access to it by following our account recovery process. But if you cannot provide verification of ownership for the site, we won’t be able to give you access to it.

  Hello,

  Thank you. I gathered as much. I am the admin. But have no access to the documentation that WP requires. It has been a long time and I totally should have removed it then.

  I’ve requested for the site to be set private, so hopefully that will fix it. – Jo
