Removing a SiteMap .XML
-
Hi there,
I posted an image that the model would now like to have removed. I deleted the image from the site, my media library and it still shows. I contacted to Google and it says that it may be on the sitemap. xml. I don’t know what this means or where I would find it. Can you please help? Here is the link: https://therockstaranthropologist.wordpress.com/2016/09/04/exploring-black-identity/israa-ismaeil/
Also if you search Google for Israa Ishmaeil, the image thumbnail still shows although it goes no where. I need to get rid of the thumbnail. Thank you

Hi there,
The sitemap does not include links to images on your site. The sitemap is what tells Google what posts and pages exist on your site so they know how to index it.
What is most likely happening here is that the image was cached by Google, so a copy of the image is stored on their servers. People are still able to access that copy, even if the original image is deleted form our servers.
The only people who can remove an image from Google’s cache is Google themselves, so I’m afraid there is nothing I can do from this side to help.
That link you gave is for a deleted post, not for an image in the media library. If you have the media library link (it would start with http://therockstaranthropologist.files.wordpress.com/… ) I can make sure it’s entirely removed from our servers, but we can’t do anything about cached copies with search engines.
