Removing all material from WordPress
-
We are trying to remove our old site from WordPress. The home page has been removed, however the subsequent pages are still there and show up on search. When I try to login to go to the site, it tells me I don’t have a site and gives me prompts to build one.
-
If you would like to delete your WordPress.com site, there are options and instructions for doing so here:
Please bear in mind that once deleted, that site’s WordPress.com URL will become permanently unavailable for future use. If you feel that you might need that URL again in the future, you might want to choose one of the other options listed on the the page linked above.
Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.
-
It also sounds like perhaps you are trying to log in with an account that is not the owner of the site you are trying to delete.
-
When I go to My Site > Settings the only option is “Create Site”. I assume this is the result of deleting the home page.
As for the question of logging in with an account that is not the owner, the best records I have tell me this is the correct account. Please remember, this was several years and there has been a couple of different people tasked with updating that are no longer part of my group.

The issue is that the WordPress.com user account that you are posting from is not the owner or admin of https://hamiltonprimetimers.wordpress.com/.
So you must have ended up with a second WordPress.com account at some point. You will need to log into the other account in order to delete https://hamiltonprimetimers.wordpress.com/.

Well Josh, it looks like we are screwed then. I have no record of any other account and password. (The joins of being in a community group without proper succession planning.)
Since it appears there is no way I can show any proof of ownership, I guess I am done.
-
If you’d like, I could try sending an email to the account that owns the upgrade. Perhaps the owner would be willing to help out if the email is still active.
-
If the email address ends in primetimershamilton.com, it will come to me anyway. But, yes. Please see if you can reach the owner of the upgrade.
-
My apologies, I should have said “owner of the site”, not “owner of the upgrade”.
In any case, I shall send that email.
