Removing an old site that I don't have access to.
-
Here’s the situation: I am the IT admin for our church. When I was recently updating our Google Business listing, I noticed a wordpress site coming up that was branded as our church. It had information on it that was cut and pasted from our old website (really old) and hadn’t been updated since 2/8/2010. I have gone through all the channels internally and no one can find that anyone was ever authorized to make this site. It is hosted on the wordpress.com domain:
http://adventblog.wordpress.com
My REAL site is http://adventcec.com
My problem is that the church moved a year ago and this old unauthorized site has conflicting and incorrect information (address, phone #, hours) on it. We have no idea who made it or what email address they used to do so. I need to have the site taken down and don’t know how to go about doing that. when I try to report it on the wordpress site, it asks for all kinds of authenticating info that I just don’t have and don’t have a way to get.

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
Clicking this link should display all blogs registered under the same username account, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf the log-in information is lost visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If you check each and every possible email address and account and are not successful gaining access to the blog(s) then please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff, and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.
Bottom line: If you cannot verify ownership to Account Recovery Staff by use of this form https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and adding any other details you can provide at the end of the form you have reached a dead end. https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

So you’re saying that I have no recourse then?
I don’t know who set it up six years ago. They did it without permission. I have no knowledge of the email address used. I’ve tried the site recovery option but don’t have any authentication data to complete that process.
I don’t own the blog, it is pretending to be our site. We need to get it removed. Does it take a court order? It’s frustrating not being able to speak to someone on the phone about it.
Can nothing else be done?

They did it without permission.
If you would like to report an unauthorized website to WordPress.com staff, use this form instead.
