Removing and changing sidebar items

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to know how to remove a sidebar or widget (or whatever the box on the right-hand side of the blog is) and replace it with a new one. I can’t seem to find instructions on how to do this, beginning with what they are called.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Mark,

Just click on Dashboard -> Appearance -> Customize. The right side of the window will then display options for changing your sidebar or widget. Click on Widgets -> Primary or Content Sidebar, and there you will the title of your sidebar. Click on the small arrow next to it, and the option to remove it will appear.

    Take Care,
    Rennickd

Thanks Rennickd, but there is no “Appearance” item on my Dashboard. When I click on “Dashboard,” the drop-down includes “Home, Comments I’ve Made, Site Stats, My Blogs, Blogs I Follow and Omnisearch.” No “Appearance.” So I guess my question should be “Where the heck is the Appearance menu?” Very frustrating!

It should appear under “Feedback” , way down after ‘Omnisearch’, and ‘Media’, ‘Posts’ and ‘Comments’.

You need to be an Admin to change the Widgets.

If you are an Editor and lower, you can not change the Widgets

Thank you, Auxclass. You appear to be correct. I am not the originator of the blog, and I can only add/edit my own posts. So I guess the Widgets are off limits to me. Question answered–thanks again!
