Removing Author details from Portfolio previews
-
Hello,
I need help figuring out how to remove the author reference from the gallery previews from the portfolio display I have on my main page. I am 99% positive that they didn’t used to show, but now all of a sudden I noticed them. They have no value to me and are distracting.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
WordPress.com has evidently recently added the author or authors to what displays by default when using portfolio shortcode. Consequently, if you don’t want the author to display for each project, you must include an argument or “attribute” telling the shortcode not to display the author or authors. See the posts by @ellenvanmulders in the recent topic Illustratr: name under every portfolio item on front page?. A solution is in the second post.
The Portfolio Shortcode support page has not yet been updated to include the “display_author=false”
“attribute” that is now necessary in order to block the author/authors from being displayed by the shortcode. -
musicdoc1 – please feel free to modlook anything like this in the future so staff can look into it . :) I was not aware of any updates to the portfolio shortcode, but will now investigate. I’ll update this thread and the other one.

“please feel free to modlook anything like this in the future”
Sure, will do. I was going to do so, but after consideration decided that a staff person would see my response anyway, given that it’s in the Themes forum.

A modlook is always appreciated for anything that seems like it might be a bug, as it helps us address bugs quicker. Thanks!

We’re looking into getting the issue fixed up and the docs updated, as something did indeed inadvertently change in the shortcode.
In the meantime, Svetlana, could you change your shortecode from:
[portfolio display_types=true display_tags=false columns=3 showposts=10 orderby=title]to
[portfolio display_types=true display_tags=false columns=3 showposts=10 orderby=title display_author=false]That should hide the author. (Once we fix this issue, the author will be hidden by default, unless you set the attribute to true.)
Sorry for the trouble here, and let us know if you need further help!

This glitch has been fixed! The author is no longer displayed in the portfolio shortcode by default. You can leave your shortcode as is or remove the new bit you added yesterday – it’s up to you.
I’ve also updated the shortcode documentation to include the new author attribute, since it was missing before.
