Removing Authors (but keeping their posts).
-
Hey everyone, thanks in advance for any help offered.
I use the authors widget on my website which displays all the users associated with my WordPress blog in the sidebar.
I am currently wondering: is there any way to keep a user on the blog, but remove their author icon/name in the author widget? If I remove a user I have to either delete all of their posts, or move these posts over to my own username, which I of course do not wish to do.
I have the CSS upgrade but I am unsure if that will make any difference.
Also, is there any way to make a custom username, such as Previous Contributors or Guest Writers? This would solve the problem above because I could then just put guest/previous writers under this one username, which I wouldn’t mind displaying via the author widget.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As I remember if you remove a user/author from the blog, their posts will stay just as they are with the same author listed (or at least you are given that option). You do not have to move the posts over to your own username.
The authors are pulled from the database and listed in the widget. There isn’t anyway to hide individual authors via CSS.
You could create your own author’s widget using a text widget instead of using the built in widget.

Aside from what TSP suggest, you could create a Category for each author under their name and have each author assign that to their posts. Then when visitors click the link they will get a full display of all posts by that author found in the blog.
