Removing blog from home page

  We don’t want our blog to show on the home page as we don’t use the blog feature. It appeared after we renewed the domain upgrade on our blog because our webpage was not available to our customers. How can we turn the blog off?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hello there,

  I took a look at your site: http://joyofdanceballet.com/. I do not see your blog on your front page. Were you able to fix this issue on your own? Or do you still need assistance?

  The only area I can see sign of your blog is in the Archive widget on the sidebar. If that is what you’re referring to, you can remove that by clicking Appearance → Widgets in your site’s Dashboard and removing the Archive.

  Yes, I want to remove the Archive widget. I’m not sure I’m doing it right. I’m not sure where I’m dragging the widget from or to. I could use some more guidance. Thanks!

  Hello there!

  No problem at all — happy to help further. Because you have no widgets at all in your site’s sidebar, your theme is auto-filling that area with default widgets.

  If you want the sidebar to be blank, here’s a little trick:

  1. Go to Appearance → Widgets, or click the link below:
     https://joyofdanceballet.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php
  2. In the left-hand side of the page, find the Text widget. Click it once. Then, make sure Sidebar is selected, and then add widget.
  3. Click Save in the widget.

  Now your site thinks there is a text widget installed, and won’t try to populate the sidebar with default widgets.

  Eventually, you may wish to add all sorts of widgets to your sidebar. In the meantime, this empty text widget will act as a placeholder.

  I guess what is really happening is that we don’t want the sidebar at all. We just want the full page as it was before October 14 or 15. Don’t know why it changed, just want it back the way it was. Thanks for your help.

  Hi there,

  I see! Thanks so much for the further clarification.

  You can adjust your home page template to full-width, no sidebar.

  To do this, open the page in the editor. In the right-hand side of the page you’ll see the Page Attributes box. It looks like this:

  Change you settings, and then Update your page to save the changes.
