Removing ‘blog’ tab from site

How do I remove the blog tab? So that I can just shift the homepage across and it looks neater..

What I want is a homepage which doesn’t look like a blog entry.
It is the fact that I can’t remove the blog tab that makes this difficult. When I go to manage / pages, it displays all the pages that I have posted, but this ‘blog’ one is not displayed, and therefore cannot be removed.
mtdewvirus, if I did as you suggested, and removed my ‘homepage’ link, then the homepage would be called ‘blog’.
Alternatively, I could use a different theme, and that default tab would be called ‘home’. However, I can only post in that, I cannot write it as a page – there is no way of writing without my text being date stamped.
Is it possible to create a home page that doesn’t look like a blog entry?

My suggestion is to look for a theme that does not have top navigation and then you can put the pages widget in the sidebar (which will not show the “blog” page).
With the paid CSS upgrade, you can hide all the top navigation tabs, but I don’t think you can hide just one.

I had the same problem with dates on pages.
I have resolved it by using Ocean Mist theme and then created a Home page (accueil in French)
