Removing categories from featured image associated with posts on site

  I am looking to remove the category from being listed on the featured image of post. Right now all my posts that are viewed on the homepage of my site has the category showing on the image. I need to remove. There is no reason for the public to see what the post is categorized under. Please check out the site to see for yourself. It is a simple site that I am coding myself. A beginner.
