Removing categories from homepage excerpts

  Hey, I’m trying to remove -all blog posts- -lifestyle- etc. from above my post titles.

  I’ve looked around tried
  span.blog-categories.minor-meta {
  display: none!important;
  }
  which I found on another post, but I can’t seem to get it to work.
  Any ideas?
