Removing "Category Archive" from heading in Elegant Grunge theme

I am using the Elegant Grunge theme and I use categories and a custom menu to organize my blog around a few general areas of interest. Viewers can click on a category in the custom menu and they are taken to the “archive” for that category. But the heading of each “archive” says “Category Archive: <category>” (where <category> is the name of the category). Is there any way to customize this to remove the phrase “Category Archive”?

Also, I would love to be able to put a little introductory text at the top or in the sidebar of each category page to introduce the topic. Thoughts on that would be helpful as well!

If you have some CSS experience and the paid CSS upgrade, yes.

    Actually, no.

CSS just handles styles, not content. I have quite a bit of CSS experience and Elegant Grunge allows free CSS editing. The issue appears to lie someplace else, perhaps in templates.

You can hide it with CSS, but you are correct, you cannot edit it.

We cannot edit the underlying theem PHP script files here at wordpress.COM because this is a multi-user platform which means we all share the same underlying theme and wordpress files. Any change by one person would change it for everyone using that theme.
