removing comment option from posts and pages

I want to remove the comment option entirely from my blog twelvewinters.com — but support tells me to go to the discussion module, and it doesn’t look like the one support displays. There is no option to simply not click “allow comments.” I can customize how I want the comments displayed, etc., but there’s no way to simply remove the option from the posts/pages altogether.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can follow the steps in this guide on how to disable comments: http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/

By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion module hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options on the top right, and checking the box that says Discussion. See the Screen Options support doc for more information.

Unfortunately, when I go to Discussion or Screen Options, neither looks like the examples shown. There is no option to have or not have comments. There’s a plethora of options about how to customize discussion/comments (articles is a word used too), but nothing to simply remove comments from the posts and pages.
