Removing Comments

  • Unknown's avatar

Does anyone know how to remove a comment you made on someone else’s blog? I left a comment, got a notification that it was liked, so I was able to see that the person who wrote that blog post edited my comment. It’s horrible and I would like it removed without having to contact this dishonest WordPress user. What can I do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please read: Can I edit/delete comments I left on someone else’s blog?

    Enable or Disable Comments

timethief, I read that. This user has no contact information and I don’t want to risk commenting again only for them to edit it to something awful that I did not say… again. What else can I do? Can no one at WordPress delete this thing? I don’t want “me” calling someone trash floating around out there. (This is not on my blog, but someone else’s.)

Also… I am really upset, and really creeped out, that WordPress allows people to edit someone else’s words like this.

There’s nothing else you can do and Staff cannot enter any site and remove a comment you made there.

I want nothing else to do with this blog. I don’t want them to have my email. I don’t want to talk with them. I just want my comment gone PLEASE SOMEONE! :(

This is a public support forum and every time you post here Google indexes what you post and it will appear in search results.

Staff cannot enter another person’s site and remove the comment that you submitted there. Your only recourse is to ask the owner of the site to remove it. https://en.support.wordpress.com/comments/#can-i-edit-comments-i-left-on-someone-else%E2%80%99s-blog

Do you know if there’s anyone on staff I could contact? This really sucks. I don’t say that much, but this really sucks. I never want to comment on anything again now. I almost want to move my blog somewhere else. Thank you for trying to help, timethief.

Contacting Staff will not change what I posted. Staff cannot and will not enter any person’s site and remove any comments you submitted to their content.

I guess I just don’t understand how a website can allow anyone to edit someone’s own words and then all they can say is sorry, we can’t help you. I get allowing WordPress users to DELETE comments on their blogs, but to EDIT what someone says and nothing can be done about it? I think I will be looking for someplace else for a website. I sincerely thank you for your time, timethief.

I’m sorry but the way it is, is exactly as I posted above. :( When posting anything at all online please think twice or even three times because even after deletion there will be a record somewhere on the internet of what you said.

Lesson learned the hard way I guess. I do not mind if my words are deleted and still floating around the blackhole of the internet. I do have a problem with a comment I made being completely changed by the blog user. I don’t understand how a service can allow that? How does thinking twice about what I post save my post from someone else editing it? Not even a screenshot edit… In the original freaking spot where I had posted! That would be like commenting on Facebook and someone else edits your reply and you don’t notice until you get a notification that someone liked it, but too late you can’t delete! I think I had originally said something like, “New nose or not, I don’t always agree with her!” aaaaaaand now it says that she’s trash and I don’t even know what else. :/ I was just trying to be polite after this blogger had commented on *my* blog. Guess I won’t be commenting anymore. Sorry, I’m rambling…

I am so sorry that blogger edited your comment but there’s nothing that can be done about it.
