Removing Comments and Inserting a picture

  How can I remove the comment that is from wordpress on my new blog? When I go to the comments page on the dashboard it says “Search for comments”. And when I use the words that show up in the title of the commentit fails to find that comment.

  Also any idea how to insert the picture that shows up in my avatar here in the sidebar of my blog?

  Any help will be appreciated.
