Removing Domain Forwarding (HELP!)

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been hosting my blog on a Yahoo! domain (ccmpatrol.com), but now I’m ready to free up the domain and put the blog back on WordPress. I changed my nameservers on Yahoo and, on the WP domain settings, set to host at ccmpatrol.wordpress.com. However, ccmpatrol.com is still forwarding to the WordPress blog. The previous forums said you don’t have to change anything on WordPress, but that’s SO not true… WP has my nameserver info stored somewhere and won’t let go of my domain. Does anyone know what to do?

Yes, don’t do a switch like this on a long weekend.

Undo what you’ve done if you can. Then wait till Support is back online probably on Tuesday sometime and ask them for help.

    DNS check:
    ccmpatrol.com. 43200 IN NS ns9.san.yahoo.com.
    ccmpatrol.com. 43200 IN NS yns1.yahoo.com.
    ccmpatrol.com. 43200 IN NS yns2.yahoo.com.
    ccmpatrol.com. 43200 IN NS ns8.san.yahoo.com.
    Nothing is pointing at us.

    Going here:
    http://ccmpatrol.com/
    shows a text pattern error.

If you want to stop domain mapping, just change the DNS settings at the same place you changed them to point at us.
We have absolutely no control at all over your domain.
We cannot make it do anything.
You point it at us, we make it work here. You point it away, that stops.

Please also remember that DNS changes are never instant. They can take several hours to settle.
Only contact support if a minimum of 36 hours has passed.

I waited a while and eventually the forwarding stopped. Thanks for your help!
