removing domain maping
-
Hi. I set up domain mapping from a wp.com site to another URL. However, now I am developing that URL/ site in wp.org and want to stop the auto direct. Under Domains in the Dashboard, I made the wp.com site primary thinking this would change it but that is not the case.
I think I need to change this, under domains in the WP.com dashboard, by deleting the URL of the previously domain mapped site.
This way, they become two distinct sites but I don’t want to hit ‘delete’ if that’s the wrong action.
Please confirm.
Thank you!
Cathryn.

DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to walk you through the rest, but that should save you some hassle.

My domain is not registered through wordpress so I would think deleting the URL it was previously being directed to on the wp.com domain mapping page would be the answer.
I can’t think what else it could be. Nonetheless, I’ve written to WP Support – I just don’t know how long it will take to get an answer.
Thanks.

You need to revert the nameservers of your domain to its default and point them to your self-hosted WordPress.org site. Please contact your registrar (where you registrer your domain) to help you with that.
If you want I can disable the auto-renew for your Domain Mapping Upgrade. Please reply to confirm.
