removing domain mapping?
-
I tried to map a domain name I bought to my wordpress site [I did purchased the option] but always get the error ‘Sorry but <domain name> is already mapped to a WordPress.com blog’. In the support forums I read that this need to be fixed by support staff by removing this mapping [can’t be done by site / blog admin]. So please, support staff, could you please fix this for me?

We cannot assist anyone who fails to provide the actual relevant URLs starting with http:// so please do that now.

Hi there,
Was the issue you were having with the domain yogapauze.be? I see that you were able to get that mapped. If not, let me know what domain you are having trouble with and I’ll be glad to help you.
Thanks!

Sorry, I forgot to mention the domain.
Domain = yogapauze.beSo the current URL = https://yogapauze.wordpress.com/
should become http(s)://yogapauze.beThanks a lot for your help.

Hi there,
I set the primary domain to yogapauze.be from here:
https://yogapauze.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Now yogapauze.wordpress.com will forward to that domain. Is this what you needed?
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Thanks for your response but I needed something else since there is already a redirect / forward from a purchased domein = yogapauze.be so now we have created a loop.
Could you just remove the ‘wordpress.com’ in the URL by using the purchased option to map domain names to <xxx.wordpress.com> sites? In other words my https://yogapauze.wordpress.com/ URL should be yogapauze.be
Thanks for the followup. W

Hi there,
A xxx.wordpress.com URL must always be associated with the site. However, that domain is now masked by yogapauze.be, which is now the primary domain for the site. So, no one will know of the WordPress.com URL unless you point them to that address or if they were familiar with the URL before you added the custom domain. As far as the visitor knows, yogapauze.be is the only domain for the site.
However, if someone were to type in yogapauze.wordpress.com, it will automatically forward to yogapauze.be, and that is what they will see in their address bar.
Hopefully, that makes sense. For more information, please visit our support page:

Hmmm…I’m still a little unsure of what you want to do.
I noticed that the nameservers are pointed to
ns1.webyte.eu
ns2.webyte.euAre you wanting to remove the mapping subscription so that you can point the domain away from WordPress.com. If so, that clarifies a few things. Let me know, thanks!

Hi, I will start from scratch.
First I created a website in WordPress with the standard WordPress URL = yogapauze.wordpress.com.
Then I bought the domain name = yogapauze.be at a DNS / hosting company and they redirect yogapauze.be to yogapauze.wordpress.com.That all works fine.
Now I want my wordpress site using my domain name [so no forwarding or redirecting from wordpress].
Therefore I purchased the $13 “map domain” option in WordPress.
Eventually the browser should say yogapauze.be and not the default wordpress site name.I hope this clarifies a bit of what I wanted to do
Thanks for your help
PS. Try yogapauze.be in a browser now

Hi, I think I figured it out now.
I deactivated the forwarding from the DNS records at the hosting company. By doing so I guess wordpress will handle the DNS records correctly … and since yogapauze.be is the primary domain now in wordpress, I guess it will work the way I want it.Let’s wait a couple of hours, DNS records need to be updated now and then we will see …
thanks again for your kind support

I think the wordpress DNS and nameservers need to be adapted?
So current DNS settings / MX records are:
cp and ftp: type A: 81.95.125.200
www: type A : 81.95.125.200
yogapauze.be. :type A :81.95.125.200
yogapauze.be. :type NS : ns1.webyte.eu.
yogapauze.be. :type NS : ns2.webyte.eu.
yogapauze.be. :type MX : 10 spamfilter1.webytee.eu.
yogapauze.be. :type MX: 20 spamfilter2.webytee.eu.I hope this makes sense now?
thanks again for your patience, W
