Removing hyphenation in Gema theme post titles, headers, posts, paragraphs, etc.

    The Gema theme apparently has a complicated hyphenation setup that prevents me from removing hyphenation through CSS as suggested in the support forum. I’m told a more complicated CSS text could fix it, but I have no idea how to create it.

    The hyphenation cuts words off in totally illogical ways–post titles on the main page make no sense to the eye they way they are broken down. I don’t want ANY hyphenation in my post titles, headers, posts, etc.

    Can you help me create some CSS text that solve the challenge in the Gema theme for me?

  • Hi @theuntamedalchemist!

    Hyphenation can be a little tricky at times, since differnt browsers handle it different ways (you might view the same page in Chrome and internet explorer, for example, and see two different hyphenation methods.

    To combat this, Gema set hyphenation directly in the theme’s CSS. After a little testing, this style seemed to remove all of the hyphenation I was trying it on your site, so I’ve saved it in your Custom CSS for you) –

    .word-wrap, body {
      -webkit-hyphens: none;
         -moz-hyphens: none;
          -ms-hyphens: none;
              hyphens: none;
    };

    That should cover the elements the theme explicitly defines, in all of the major browsers :)

    YES! Thank you–this appears to have covered it in post titles, headings, and paragraphs! Still checking other browsers, but this is by far the best result I’ve had so far…

    You’re my hero!!
