removing items from the home page

  Can you please explain how we can change the title of the homepage and also remove the pages and categories from the right hand side of the page?
  The categories are not needed and the pages are also shown as tabs at the top, which we want to keep.

  The Home page will always be titled Home, but you can create your own navigation menu and customize it as desired via Appearance -> Menus in your Dashboard. See this for more info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

  The items to the right are your default widgets. Once you add a widget (even an empty Text widget) from Appearance -> Widgets, they’ll disappear.
