Removing link from titles

    Dear Forum,

With reference to my site shaunhines.wordpress.com please could you let me know how I remove the ‘link’ aspect of both the titles ‘Once upon a time’ and Telling Tales’

I’m in the process of tidying the blog up and feel that, although not a major problem, these links are extra to requirement and could confuse visitors.

    Many thanks for the assistance…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t remove the link from a title at WordPress.com.

Hi Raincaster and thanks for the help.

I’m building this blog for a university project and a bit concerned as I won’t be in the room when the project is discussed/graded etc.

My concern is that if a lecturer discovers that the links I mention in my post above are redundant it may affect my marks…….to have complete control of the blog’s design would I have to migrate across to wordpress.org? Is this complicated/expensive and if I do am I going to be confronted with a long learning curve as a newbie?

    Assistance and advice much appreciated.

@shaunhines: You are aware that the titles are not “links” when you are viewing the post invididually, right? Example:

Hi airodyssey and many thanks for getting in touch

…..due to a discussion with a lecturer on the general look of my initial ‘theme’ I’ve now changed to ‘Twenty Ten’….this particular theme doesn’t make ‘links’ out of the sub- titles I was concerned about, so all is ok with respect to that issue however, I am a little concerned about my general approach and understanding of ‘Pages and Categories’ etc.

As you will no doubt realise my first page has been constructed as a Post. Visually, and for navigation purposes, this has to always serve the same function as a Home Page would on a regular website. The Blogroll will be links to external sites (wish this could be customised page-to-page but know this can’t be done in wordpress.com). The Footer area might be utilised but not sure how at the moment.

With the above in mind my concern is what to expect when people actually start posting to the blog, where will the comments that people leave having visited the various pages be stored? As the home page is actually a Post, dated August, my understanding is that, if things stay as they are, there will only ever be one archive ‘August 2010’ which will obviously always link back to the Home Page (post). Not what I’m after.

Sincere thanks for any assistance, I did buy the Word Press Bible (too complicated for my level) and will buy WordPress for Dummies but my deadline is slowly creeping up and I need to keep working on this site.

    Best wishes…

Your intro should be a page, not a post. Once you do that, set your front to display that page instead of posts – see here:

    Set the Homepage
