removing menu tab?
-
I use the Misty Lake theme for my blog. It comes with menu tabs. I’m still in my set up phase & can’t figure out how to remove the “About” menu tab at the top of my blog page. The menus link in my dashboard lets me add menu tabs but not delete them. If the tab isn’t being used, does it appear to readers who find my blog? Thanks so much!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ you decide exactly what to include and what to exclude. Go here > Appearance > Menus and locate the About page. Then click the module and when it opens up click remove. Then click “save menu”.

I never delete an About page because I think About pages are essential and this is why. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/04/06/why-about-pages-are-essential/
re: front page error message
Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.By default the front page of your blog displays all posts. The 404 (page not found) error message on the front page of the blog appeared because the Admin of the blog deleted the placeholder Hello World post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ As soon as you publish a post, not a page it will disappear. Read the differences between Pages and Posts.

Thank you TimeThief. Hmmm….when I open the menus option in my dashboard the About page does not show up. It only gives me an option to create a menu, along with categories, pages & custom links. That is why I am confused. I do think an about page is essential – but I put one on my sidebar already so seeing the tab at the top felt a little redundant & I wanted to remove it so as not to confuse readers. I’ll try the support link for menus you gave me & see if there is anything I can find there. Thanks again!

You create a custom menu and then put only the pages or whatever that you want into that custom menu.

Ahh haa! I needed to delete the page, not the menu. I got it to work. Thanks so much. I can always add it back if I change my mind. This support forum *rocks*!! Appreciate the help!
