Removing old websites from search engines?
-
An old website I created is still showing up on google. I thought changing the website domain would get rid of it on google but it still appears and is cached on googles searches. WordPress won’t let me revert back to the old domain name I used to have, so using googles verification tool is pretty useless.
Since then I made the website private. I don’t want people to see my old website since I have other sites I DO care about. I know I can archive them but they mean a lot to me. Is there a way I for me to revert to my old domain name? Or will deleting my websites entirely remove me from google search results?

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?
Many thanks.

Thanks Adam, I would list the URL but I don’t really feel comfortable putting more info on the internet out there. The rest of my account features blogs from people who don’t want their information out there either.

Is there any other information I can send to help out? Or is the past/current URL vital to getting help? I am very unfamiliar with wordpress support forums.

Hi there,
Whether your site is hosted by us or some other hosting provider there’s little that can be done on our end.
Over time, Google’s crawlers will realize that your site is gone and Google will update its listings. This will remove it from its cache and its search results.
