Removing only some custom header pics

I’m setting up my first blog here and am a bit puzzled by the custom header portion.

I’m using the Mystique theme, and I uploaded some pictures for custom headers (12 so far) and set it on random.

After cropping one and seeing it in action, I’ve decided I don’t like it. But there doesn’t seem to be a way to remove it. When I select it and click the “remove custom header” option is simply reverts back to the default header. All 12 images I had uploaded remain when I switch back to custom header.

Is there any way to manage all the custom header pictures once they’re uploaded and cropped? I’d like to continuously add them as necessary, but also be able to remove them (if they’re seasonal, for example). Can’t find anything when searching the forums or on the other help pages.

    Anyone have any ideas?

This is the support forum for those with free hosted WordPress.com blogs only. Which blog are you referring to? Please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question. .

The version of the Mystique theme we have here at WordPress.COM does not provide for a random custom header image display. That means you are referring to the version for WordPress.ORG and ought to be posting to this forum > http://wordpress.ORG/support/

The ones you dont need or like you can delete from media on the side of your dashboard, then if you want to use them again just re-upload them
    hope this helps

Since it asked which blog I needed help with when creating the topic, I didn’t think I needed to restate it. http://shrubbo.wordpress.com

I did indeed get the Mystique theme from wordpress.COM as I hadn’t even visited the .ORG one until you just pointed it out. And the Mystique theme I signed up for does indeed offer random custom header image display options. Don’t know what to tell you there, but it’s very clearly offered as I’m using it on a .COM blog.

I’m sorry. I have the Mystique theme on my test blog here at WordPress.com. This is what is on the page when I click > Appearance > Header

    Upload Image

You can upload a custom header image to be shown at the top of your site instead of the default one. On the next screen you will be able to crop the image.
Images of exactly 940 × 200 pixels will be used as-is.

Choose an image from your computer:
    Display Text

    No Yes
    Text Color

In other words, I do not see a random header display option. However, what I overlooked was this:

    Featured (“Sticky”) Post

One featured post will show up in the header if the post is set as sticky, has a featured image attached, and the featured image is at least 940 pixels wide. If you have more than one post that meets these criteria the most recent post will be displayed.

The featured post area will show in the header of every site page unless you expressly turn it off in Appearance → Theme Options; in that case it will only be displayed on the home page. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/mystique/

    I have this

    Uploaded Images

You can choose one of your previously uploaded headers, or show a random one.

Yes, this thread is about “Featured Posts” and in featured posts the featured image replaces the header. :) In order for any featured image in a featured post to be displayed on the blog it must be uploaded to the Media Library. If it is not there then when our browser call for it to display it cannot be displayed.
