Removing or accessing an old site

I’m currently a trustee for a local out of school club charity that my daughter attends. I’ve been supporting them with their IT and have built a new website using a hosted version of WordPress to replace their old Joomla site.

I’m not sure why I was Googling it a few weeks ago, but in doing so stumbled up this wordpress.com site that predates the Joomla site I have replaced.

I’ve spoken with the Club Manager and she has no recollection of the site, so no idea who built it and who might have any details to access it.

I am looking to either (a) get it removed or (b) updated it so it simply redirects to the new site. Is this possible?

    Thanks

    The site is https://lpoosc.wordpress.com

    Hi there,

To do either of those we would need to verify that you are the site owner, which we are not able to help here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.

With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly to assist you in regaining access to the account that owns lpoosc.wordpress.com.

Thanks for the reply, but other than the URL I have no other details so can’t even submit this form.

    Hello there,

Are you able to find out if any purchases were made with regards to this site?

A transaction ID could be located on a bank statement which could be used to help with recovering the account.

    Many thanks.

I don’t even know who set it up, so I have nobody to ask! None of the current club staff even knew this site had been created.

In that case, it’s best if you email our Account Recovery team directly: passwordhelp@wordpress.com.
They will get back to you from there. Thanks!
