Removing Page Tabs from Ocean Mist theme

Hello, i’m using the Ocean Mist theme which automatically includes over the header image ‘tabs’ of all pages on the site.
I do like this feature, except that it’s showing my google webmaster tools verification page as well – definitely not a page I wish to remove, and can’t rename.

And no, it’s separate from the Pages widget – i’ve already set that to ignore the google page.

Is there any way to tell it to not show that page? Short of editing the CSS – as I don’t have the money to buy the upgrade at the moment.

Can we please have a link to your wordpress.COM blog? And consider linking it in your user name as explained in the sticky at the top of the forum:

Go into your dashboard -> users -> your profile -> then scroll down to ‘contact info’. In the spot where it says ‘website’ fill in the address of your blog and save the changes.
Now… when you comment here and on other blogs, your name will link to your blog. If you do this before you post your request for help, it will allow forum volunteers to be able to help you quicker since they won’t have to ask you for a link and wait until you come back to post one.

Breaking my own rule here* – You could have put the google verification information in a post (and back dated it to much earlier so it doesn’t show) instead of a page. If you do that, the page tab won’t show and you won’t need CSS.

*My rule: never answer a question without a link to the blog in question.

Seeing as I have several blogs, and this one in question is meant to remain anonymous I won’t link to it from my profile, but jsut from this post http://lambadassecrets.wordpress.com

Hmm, but wouldn’t putting it in a post 1) Make it appear in the archives and 2) Make the link have the date in (http://link/year/month/day/postname) – that would break the verification, as it wouldn’t be at the ‘root’ of my site (required by Google)

It won’t break the verification link so long as you are careful to give it the right title – I just did exactly the same thing (moving from a page to a post) and it redirects perfectly.

It will appear in the archives, but if you set it far enough in the past no one’s ever going to check. I put mine several years earlier than I started blogging.

rosclarke is exactly right, which is why I recommended it.

    Hmmm….
I guess that will have to do, shame really – seems a bit of an oversight that they didn’t ensure pages can be ignored in the header; WP.com’s own FAQ says that using a page is the way to do it. What they’ve done really is made sure people can’t do it the FAQ way. *shrugs*

Oh well, a page it is.

    Thanks anyway people

You have an alternative: choose a theme that doesn’t show pages in the header.

Heh, i’m well aware of that, however I feel that this theme fits with the content of my site ;)
