Removing posts from home page?
-
Is it possible to remove posts from the home page, but keep them in the category archives?
I’d like to have a home page of the five most recent posts, but no more.
Thanks in advance…

Just disable Infinite Scroll and set the front page to show five posts (do that on the Settings->Reading page).

Thank you for the speedy reply — good to know
It sounds as if that would display the top five posts in reverse chronological order — is there a way to remove one of those posts, and allow another (older) post to show up as one of the top five?

You could make the old post Sticky, which puts it right at the top of the page. The only other way is to edit the timestamp so it appears to be newer.

Thanks — I’m not seeing an edit timestamp function in Edit Post
Could you walk me through how to find edit timestamp…

It’s on the Edit page on the right-hand side. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/schedule-a-post/
