Removing 'Protected' from a passworded article
-
Hello there,
On my site, I expect to be password protecting mostly all the articles, as our group wishes to allow our members who do not have a wordpress account to access the site, yet keep the articles away from the public eye.
Whenever I password protect an article, it’s title is automatically “Protected – “Example.”
Is it possible to password protect an article, yet keep its original title without the ‘Protected’ in front?
Thanks in advance!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I don’t think its possible to password protect an article, yet keep its original title without the ‘Protected’ if you are referring to thechtpaper.wordpress.com.
Perhaps if you upgrade to a Business plan you can get some built-in plugin functionality here https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/ in the plugin directory to protect the article. Or upload a plugin to do so. Refer to https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/adding-plugins/
I hope this helps!

Hi chtnewsgroup,
It may be possible to remove ‘Protected’ from the title using custom CSS, which is a feature of Premium and Business plans. Making this change may need a little experimentation but I’d be happy to take a look if you decided it’s something you wanted to do.

Thanks very much for the quick responses! :)
I’ve looked into both options, but since the site is currently being handled by a group of teenage writers, although for quite a large amount of Readers, we doubt we can afford to buy a plan, paying monthly.
Currently our group is still publishing via our group, but we hope to move all articles to this site by next January. If that is successful, we may start a fundraiser to buy a plan to move the entire community, not just the Paper, to WordPress.
Thanks again for your help! :)
