Removing 'Proudly Powered by WordPress' text from a WP site

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,
I am new to this forum.
I would like to know how I can delete the ‘Proudly Powered By WordPress’ text from the sidebar of a site I am in the process of putting together. The theme I am using is ‘Chateau’ and I have searched for the footer.php in the code, but I am unable to find it.
I like the full width template option in this theme, but the “Proudly Powered By ….’ text gets mixed up with other words on the pages. In the default template option, the ‘Proudly Powered By ….’ text seems to behave itself, although it is half way up the pages and not at the bottom as anyone might see when they follow the link below.

Any help would be gratefully received and many thanks in advance.

    Hi voiceboxsings,

    I hope I can help you with this problem. Chateau is a cool theme and after inspecting the elements (in a Google chrome browser, Right click on the page and select Inspect Element in the drop down menu) on the site you provided its seems like a clash between a footer:

    <div id="footer" role="contentinfo">
    <!-- If you'd like to support WordPress, having the "powered by" link somewhere on your blog is the best way; it's our only promotion or advertising. -->
    	<p>
    		Camel Voyages is proudly powered by <a href="http://wordpress.org/">WordPress</a>		<br><a href="http://www.camelvoyages.com/feed/">Entries (RSS)</a> and <a href="http://www.camelvoyages.com/comments/feed/">Comments (RSS)</a>.		<!-- 47 queries. 0.553 seconds. -->
    	</p>
    </div>

    and the home header:
    <h1>home</h1>

    If you have a customization option I would delete or comment out the line for the footer to get rid of the collision.

    -Hope this helps
