Removing Recent Posts from Homepage on the Ixion Theme

    I cannot find any way to remove the block Recent Posts from my homepage. I have a page called Home and a page called Blog. I have set the homepage settings to static, front page > Home, and blog posts > Blog.

    I tried to set the posts to 0, but that didn’t work. I tried looking in the Customising sections: Site Identity, Colours & Backgrounds, Fonts, Header Image, Menu’s, Content Options, Widgets, Homepage Settings (weird how it wasn’t in there huh), Featured Content, Testimonials, Theme Options (bit shocked it wasn’t in here either tbh), Additional CSS (uh oh, you gotta pay for that, oof).

    I looked in Settings: General, Performance, Writing Discussion and Media.

    I also looked in Appearance, Widgets, Menu’s, Background, Header and Additional CSS (that cheeky pay wall, I could have hidden it with a little CSS magic).

    I looked on the actual home page, and the side panel was terribly unhelpful. Nothing to see here (which is now getting REALLY weird).

    I’d be super grateful to know where to find the option to remove the Recents Posts from the Front Page.

    My assignment for University is due on the 21st Dec, to create a website using WordPress.com and create a blog post that critically and creatively engages with the issue of online identity by reflecting on one or more aspects of my own online identity. It has to include elements such as hyperlinks, embedded tweets, and visual material.

    I can’t remove the list of blog posts from the home page, and I really, really need some advice, please :(

    (I can’t afford a subscription for a full feature site sorry)

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there,

    Looking at the theme, it’s not possible to remove this feature without custom CSS.

    What are you looking to build as part of this project? Perhaps I can offer insights or advice on a different approach?

    Hi aleone, thanks for your reply. I have everything else figured out now, and I tested the Twitter embed, but on the free version of wordpress.com I can’t use custom CSS – that I could see. I’d just love to be able to take that post list off the bottom of the home page :)

  • Hello there,

    As it’s not possible – you may wish to use another theme where this doesn’t show.

    If you’re able to tell me more about the project, I’ll do my best to guide you as best I can.

    Hi aleone, I will just stick with this one, but it is frustrating to not be able to remove it, I understand WordPress do it to encourage people to sign up for the paid version, it’s just a shame because not everyone can afford it and it really ought to be an available option.

    Thanks for responding, I am grateful for your reply.

  • I totally understand.

    If it helps, we do have a monthly option available for our plans, so this may help if you’re not looking to use the site for a full year.

    This is the CSS that would remove that:

    .recent-posts {
        display: none;
    }
