Removing side bars and comments from my sites

  I wish to remove side bars and comments from my sites so that they don’t look like blogs. How do I go about doing it? Can it be done on all themes?

  You can disable comments on any theme by following this guide:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/

  Regarding the sidebars, this does vary from theme to theme. You can always add an empty Text Widget to a theme that has default widgets set up, though you may still see a space where the widget would be.

  Your best bet is to take a look in the Theme Showcase for themes with a 1 column layout option:
