Removing Sidebar-Motif Theme
-
I want to totally eliminate the sidebar and have a wider main page, as shown in the theme’s picture. An ‘expert’ set up all the widgets for me originally, so not sure how to go about reversing. I removed the widgets, and they are now gone completely, even though I thought I had the ‘preview’ option. The instructions for CSS don’t apply, as my theme is both free and apparently now ‘unsupported’. What is up there now is even worse then what was there before. Help!

Hi Ann,
Some themes have optional page templates including special templates for the front page. The front page of the Motif demo, has the Front Page Template assigned to it. So in order to obtain that look you’d have to assign that template to the static front page. Pages assigned to the Full Width Page Template will also hide the sidebar.
The sidebar widget area, regardless of whether it has any widgets in it, would still display on pages that have templates other than the full width or front page templates assigned, as well as on the posts page, and all archives pages.
