removing stuff

is there any way to delete these:
1. Filed under: Uncategorized — beatthetest @ 10:04 am Edit This
2. The Categories option on the sidebar (it’s unnecessary for me)
3. The Archives option on the sidebar

1. I don’t think so, I think that is part of the theme.
2 and 3. Go to Dashboard –> Presentation –> Sidebar Widgets.

(1) Beat the Test is appearing as a link in your blogroll and you can delete it here
-> Manage -> Blogroll(2) You can try to remove the Categories widget here
-> Presentation -> Sidebar widgets
Simply drag the widget out of the Sidebar widgets box and drop it into the Available widgets box and then click “Save Changes”
If you do this and then view your blog and it’s still there then carocat is right. It’s the default and you will have to live with it.(3) You can try to remove the Archives widget here

Just a note on the sidebar:
If you have not put any widgets in the sidebar manually, the theme will show its default set. When you go to Presentation->Sidebar there will be a box stating that the default set is being used. In order to get rid of one or all of the widgets in the default, you need to rebuild the sidebar using the available widgets in the area near the bottom of the screen.
If you want a completely blank sidebar, just replace the default set with an empty text widget.

1) You could probably remove the bit with the CSS upgrade if you’re interested. It’s probably wrapped within a specific div tag that you can assign a display:none; to.

Hi Timethief,
I’ve spent DAYS trying to work out why my blogroll is indenting (see http://www.digitaltoast.co.uk if I haven’t sorted it then) but I’m giving up with ever getting that fixed and am just trying to delete the blogroll widget, but you say I should be able to drag widgets OUT of the box? The widgets are dragging OK, but they’re just not leaving the box. I’ve tried moving them to “available widgets” and just white space…anything!
Thanks

It looks to me like you have created Categories (parents) and Sub-Categories (children) and even more Sub-sub-categories (grandchildren). If this is the case then you can simply open your Categories widget and uncheck show hierarchy and your indenting problem will disappear. They will all be displayed in a single row alphabetically without indentation of any kind. Please try this and see what happens. If it works you will not have to remove the widget.
