Removing the right side bar on the contempt theme
-
A right side bar has appeared on each of my web pages which I did not put on. I have the contempt theme and it was not there before. Is this a change in the theme that happened recently? Who would have applied the change to my page other than myself? I have tried to remove the widgets that are in the side bar but have been unsuccessful. When I am in the appearance tab it says that the side bar is empty. There are not widgets listed. I have tried to delete the widgets, move them to the inactive widgets but nothing is working.

Please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question. The one linked to your username is wearing the Bueno theme.

It sounds like you might be seeing a default widget set. If you remove all of the widgets from the sidebar, a default set is used. To avoid that, add at least one widget to the sidebar.

hey designsimply, what you’ve described is exactly what I’ve just found. How the heck do I remove the sidebar altogether so that I have a one-column layout. I’m using the Forever theme which supports this however when I remove the widgets from the sidebar, I get 3 ‘standard’ widgets… I don’t want any on the right lol any ideas?

oh update – I’ve read on other threads that if you add a ‘text’ widget to the sidebar and put nothing in it, you won’t have the meta/search/archive ones show up. Only problem for me is that I still can’t figure out how to make this a one-column thing
