Removing the search engine from front page
-
I would like to remove the search engine function on my front page which is part of the stay theme I chose. I would then like to align my front page image to the centre of the page. How do I do this?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yours is a private blog and we don’t know which theme you are using. Please provide that information.

Hey there !
If you want to remove the search bar, you’ll need to enter this in the CSS customization panel:
#search{ visibility:hidden; height:0px; margin-bottom:0px; }For the image I can’t help since I don’t see the website, if you don’t mind I can send an invite.
If you have difficulty finding the CSS customization panel, follow the instructions here : http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
Hope this helps !

Hi,
Sorry have now made the website visible. Its the stay theme.
Will try the CSS now, thanks!
If you could also help with the image that would be great! Thank you!

Actually I would need all pages centred as they are all off to the right because of when the search engine function was there. Thanks!

The problem with the uncentered content is that it there is a sidebar to the left. We could use CSS for that, or use something the theme gave us to work with !
When you modify a ‘Page’ from your site, under the ‘Publish’ button, you can see ‘Page Attributes’. In Template, select ‘Full Width Page’ and the sidebar will be gone :)
Don’t hesitate for further questions !

Amazing! You are a genius, thank you! I may indeed have a few more questions, I am very un-technical! Thank you!

Hehe thanks :)
No problem if you have other questions ! If you want to play with CSS further, may I recommend you read this eventually ? (It’ll help you a lot!)

Also, you seem like a nice MUA, continue the good work !

By inserting this :
#masthead hgroup{ width: 100%; text-align:center; }Tell if it works properly !

Amazing! Thank you so much for all your help! Appreciate it so much.
Will definitely take a read of the CSS support as you recommend.
Thank you!

Hi Francis,
So sorry have 2 last requests and then I promise I will leave you alone!
How do I change my site title into bold text, without changing any other text and how do I change my tag line into italics?
Thank you!

Hey !
If questions bothered me, I wouldn’t be here ;) You can get the title a little more bold, but that seems to be the maximum for this font.
.wf-active .site-title, .wf-active .site-title a{ font-weight:bold; } .wf-active .site-description{ font style:italic; } -

Perfect! Thank you! Is there a way to make the tag line font slightly larger as I have it on the max allowed at the moment?
Also on my portfolio page is there a way to make the images flash in a gallery rather then having them down the page?
I’m so sorry for the all the questions but you are amazing at this and I can’t seem to figure anything out for myself without something going wrong!

I have also just noticed that the heading isn’t in bold when I look at the live site but it is on the customisation part.

For the galleries, read this link, you’ll find tons of information! http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
The heading is the boldest it can be, it shows up fine on my side.
As for the font size (CSS : font-size) change :
.wf-active .site-description{ font-style:italic; }by
.wf-active .site-description{ font-style:italic; font-size:20px; }Don’t feel bad for your questions, we all need to start somewhere ! I would suggest a test blog so you can test stuff without the fear of breaking something ;)
