Removing unwanted text

    Hello,

Please forgive my ignorance, I’m a complete beginner and have built my website using tips from forums like this one. I’m struggling to work out one issue though.

At the top of every page on my website, there is a location description just above the page title. I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s ssentially a line of text saying ‘HOME>Store’ or whatever the page name may be. If I could upload screenshots then I would.

Does anyone know how to remove this text?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi al7654,

No worries, we all start as beginners! Those are called “breadcrumbs” and you might be able to remove it either through a theme setting or CSS. Can you share your site so I can help you better?

Thank you so much for your help. I managed to remove the text using a quick search for CSS code once you’d told me what it was called!

I have one more question if you don’t mind me asking?

My site address bar shows a – sign before the domain name whenever it’s loading pages and when in tabs.

Any idea why or how to remove it?

    Thanks so much!

  • Glad that helped! I haven’t seen a minus sign in the address before. Can you share a link to your site so I can look into it?

    Sure, it’s aidielondon.com

    Thanks!

  • I see what you mean! The minus sign shows in the tab, and it seems like it’s just doing this for the homepage.

Tab text is generated by the “page title” but for the homepage I think it’s generated from the “site title” in your settings. I’d first double check on what’s typed into the Site Title field. (My Sites > Settings > Site Title)

The browser is saying your site title and tagline is set to “- aidie London | Award-winning, Psychologist-designed baby goods”

    Hiya, thanks for your reply.

The site title has no minus sign.

Any ideas of what else I could try?

    Thanks
