Removing widgets

  I want to completely get rid of the big black box on the right hand side of the blog post. I went into the customiser widget but I haven’t succeeded. Can you help please? My blog post is here https://jonmorgandotcom.wordpress.com/2016/04/24/grand-alpine-ski-traverse/

  Is the Search box that we see to the top right, hard coded in the theme? or is it a widget?
