removing widgets

  I am trying to remove all the widgets from my webpage. I understand how to do this and I thought I did remove them all (none show up in the widget/dashboard area)–but when I preview my page there are still a few widgets there. I have a sense they are the default widgets that come with my theme but is there any way to remove them?

  Use an HTML/Text widget : write nothing in the text -box and stick it to sidebar.
