Removing widgets

    Here’s my blog: spectrumofhopeproject.org

I would love to have the “categories” and “archives” removed from the left side column and the “search,” “blogroll,” and “meta” removed from the right column.

When i go to Appearance–>Widgets, there is nothing in my “primay sidebar” area, nor my “secondary sidebar” area. How do i get them removed? They’re destracting from what i want to feature on the site.

I have oxygen theme in showcase page template.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

On most themes including Oxygen, the sidebars aren’t optional, so they have to display something, so when you haven’t added any widgets yourself they display a small default set of widgets. You remove the default ones by adding the ones you prefer.

That’s terrible. Why are things on Oxygen that could be super easily customizable made to be entirely un-customizable?

The cropping on the thumbnails and now the widgets in the columns. I’m starting to regret going with WordPress…

If you drop an empty text widget in the sidebars, it makes them empty of content.

Aha. I’ll check on that. Thanks katrinaeschner.
